In terms of variety, wild orchids occur naturally in the world. In addition to hundreds and thousands of hybrids, large number of different types of orchids exists in nature. These orchid flowers come in a complete range of different characteristics, in every practical shade or color. This is the reason why wild orchids fetch exorbitant prices around the world. Usually, orchids grow in the wild and mostly thrive in dense jungles and forests, which make these wild orchids an exotic member in the botanical world. Except Antarctica where there is a little chance of survival of plant life, wild orchids are found in each of the six continents. Paphiopedilums and Cymbidiums are such terrestrial orchids, which grow on the ground and especially in the marshy region. Apart from that, epiphytic orchids are those orchid varieties, which normally grow on trees or rocks from which an individual can anchor themselves with the roots for absorbing the nutrients and water. Other than these are the saprophytic orchids, which thrive in the decayed plants devoid of green leaves and which are normally not grown as ornamental plants, mainly because they lack beauty. Generally, the different varieties of wild orchids which grow in the wilderness are three as mentioned above.

Most of the people consider wild orchids to be some sort of delicate plants, which require complicated steps for caring. However, actually saying, it is very easy to tend to wild orchids. They are not at all like the bonsai plant which requires good attention. Because wild orchids grow in the wild and natural environment, they can easily fend for themselves. Some important points need to be followed for making the process of thriving of wild orchids easy in a civilization. The main factor involved is the maintenance of the environment based on the requirements of the particular orchid. It is not at all essential to grow a jungle at home. An individual just needs to ensure that, the place where the wild orchids are grown have the right amount of light, air, humidity and temperature. In addition, provision for ample food and water also needs to be made.
 
Factors Affecting the Growth of Wild Orchids:

The factors which mainly affect the growth of wild orchids include parameters, such as light, temperature and humidity. For people, who live in a dry region and are raising orchids, it is essential to purchase the humidity tray. This is because wild orchids need as much as 60 % humidity. The other main factor besides humidity involved in the growth of wild orchids is the temperature. Although, wild orchids are not at all choosy about the temperatures, subjecting them to extreme temperatures need to be avoided at all costs.
