Growing White Orchids

White orchids are very beautiful flowers, which normally bloom in the tropical rainforests. Such types of flowers have an intense affinity for the warmth and humidity that the forests provide. Normally, orchids come in various sizes and colors. However, white orchids are one amongst the common orchids, which people like to raise themselves. Currently, there are numerous types of orchids available in the markets, which mostly feature white colored blooms. Though orchids come of various colors, most of the naturalists and orchid lovers prefer to have fresh looking and fragile white orchids. This is mainly because they look more often as bunches of soft delicate flowers or fluffy white clouds. Over the past few years, the popularity and the demand for white orchids has increased by leaps and bounds. Orchids have become more common in the not so temperate areas of the world. This is mainly because people like to raise them in their houses and even take good care of them irrespective of the fact, as to whether the outside temperature is freezing cold or not.

Types of White Orchids:

Amongst the white orchids, the most well known is the Cattleya which has a large size with a slight yellowish tinge and emanates a heavy scent. These types of orchids come in the form of pink, lavender, purple, fuchsia and many other varieties of colored blooms. Normally, these flowers are very attractive in nature and are commonly used for wedding purposes. There are numerous types of subspecies of Cattleya. Most of them have similarities to the parent specie. Another orchid which bears white flowers amongst the other colors is the dendrobium. These white orchids can be found in most of the places in the world. In these white orchids, the sizes of the flowers are smaller than that compared to Cattleya and they usually blossom in sprays. Each branch or spray comprises of ten to twenty of beautiful white orchid flowers, which are used in the warm tropical and humid forests.

Another such white orchid is Phalaenopsis, which is a beautiful orchid species in which a single stalk emerges from the plant. This stalk bears the orchid blossoms. Apart from small additions of other colors based on the hybrids or subspecies, these white orchids also come in a single white base color. Vanda, an orchid species has the least blooms of all the white orchids. They usually have medium to small size blooms, which normally feature spots or strips on the base color. These white orchids commonly grow on a single flat stalk from where the leaves spread out.

Overview:

There are numerous other species which bear the white orchid blooms. Although, most major white orchids are already mentioned above, there are more such white orchids in nature which the world has yet to see.
